Speaking with One Voice

The Northeast Pool & Spa Association is your voice on legislation and regulations impacting our industry. NESPA GRAC monitors legislative action across the region and represents the pool and spa industry when these important actions are being debated.

NESPA's Government Relations Action Committee (GRAC) brings together dedicated member volunteers and lobbyists on behalf of our members to oppose onerous over-regulation and advocate for our industry. We have important relationships with Federal, State and local officials and are in regular contact to share our industry’s perspective on legislation.

The Government Relations Action Committee consists of representatives from each of our four chapters.  If you have questions about legislation and government regulations contact NESPA at 609-689-9111.

President's Message

In the immortal words of Ferris Bueller – “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

I’m sure we could all relate to that feeling this time of year.  Working in overdrive, trying to get everything done, and many times with nearly impossible deadlines.  That is the nature of this season and somehow, we all come out the other side.

As we make our way through the beginning of the summer season – I wanted to share a couple big picture reminders to help you get prepared for the months ahead.

Employment challenges are dealt with by nearly every business at practically every level.   NESPA took an in-depth look at hiring and employment issues impacting our industry at The Pool & Spa Show last January.  Dozens of companies took part in an interactive discussion focused not only on their pain points but their successful employment strategies.  We’ve compiled over 60 powerful tips to help you attract, manage and retain employees that will help you build your business.  Make sure you read through this important article in The Edge online and see if you can apply any of the lessons learned to your business.

For those working in New Jersey, take some time to review updates on the new NJ licensing requirements outlined in this newsletter and start thinking through how your business will get ready for these new requirements.  To help you get your plan together, NESPA is hosting in-person certification courses as well as ongoing online courses.

My last reminder is making sure you remember that if you have questions about codes and regulations, licensing requirements or other issues be sure to reach out to the NESPA staff (609.689.9111).

Our goal is to help make your season go as smoothly as possible.
