Investing in Our Industry and the Next Generation

Through our charitable foundation – The NESPA Foundation – our association provides scholarships for both industry professionals as well as college students in the region.

NESPA believes that ongoing education is the key to continuing to build your business and your employee's expertise.  In some cases, certifications or licensing may be required to operate lawfully in certain locations.

The H.J. "Duke" Ellington Memorial Scholarship

Since 1985, the Northeast Spa and Pool Association has honored the memory of Harold J. "Duke" Ellington's love and devotion to the swimming pool industry by rewarding students who selflessly perform acts of service for the good of others.

This scholarship award is open to all students who permanently reside within the NESPA region area.  (The NESPA region consists of CT, NJ, LI, Eastern NY & Eastern PA).  This includes, but not limited to, children of owners and employees of all NESPA firms.  The award is presented annually to a graduation high school senior (with verified college acceptance) or to a matriculated college student whose permanent residence is within the NESPA territory.

In order to be considered for the award, the individual must be nominated by an owner or employee of an NESPA member firm.  The primary consideration for the award is the performance of "good deeds," or community service.  Scholastic achievement and financial need are also considered.  Questions regarding the specific territory should be directed to NESPA at 609-689-9111.
