The Department of Consumer Protection requires an occupational license for spa and pool trades.
SP 1
The holder of this license may perform swimming pool maintenance and repair work such as all the plumbing, heating and electrical work necessary to service, modify or repair a swimming pool, hot tub or similar recreational or therapeutic equipment. The work can only be done from an outlet, receptacle, connection, back flow preventor or fuel supply pipe that has been previously installed by a licensed worker.
SP 2
The holder of this license may perform the following work, but only while in the employ of a contractor licensed for such work, swimming pool maintenance and repair work such as all the plumbing, heating and electrical work necessary to service, modify or repair a swimming pool, hot tub or similar recreational or therapeutic equipment. The work can only be done from an outlet, receptacle, connection, back flow preventor or fuel supply pipe that has been previously installed by a licensed worker.
Requirements:
4000 hours OJT (On the Job Training/2 years
288 hours RI (Related Instruction) APSP TECH II and Certified designations have been approved by CT to meet this RI requirement.
