SPB License Holders Continuing Education Course's, Southbury, CT
CONSPA is dedicated to help it's members and the CT Swimming Pool industry in Connecticut to maintain their required continue education credits. In an effort to help you keep your license current and legal CONSPA will be holding a last-minute class to satisfy the 4-HOUR continuing education requirement by the state. License holders who fail to comply with the required CEU's are subject license forfeiture and steep fines. This class is the ONLY sanctioned class the state recognizes. Classes given by vendors, manufactures and/or suppliers are not recognized by the STATE of CT and therefore do not count towards those CEU's. SPB License renewal deadline is yearly every April 30th. Conspa has held classes on February 19th, March 13th, 2019 and a last minute class will be held on April 13, 2019.
March 2019 CONSPA General Membership Meeting, Southbury, CT
On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 Conspa's members enjoyed an evening at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT. The topic was a great one Mastering Your Marketplace Series - Part 4, "Leak Detection & Repairs" roundtable format with four Table Topics to choose from. We had over 40 attendees at this event and everyone received 1.5 CEU APSP hours. Thank you to our faciliators that spoke on each hot topic: Lynn Spaulding, Rob Romano, Pat McDougall, Ron Falcioni, Bob Russell and Mike Lionetti. Our next general membership meeting will held in September 2019.
March 19, 2019 SP-2 License Holder Continuing Education Class
On March 19, 2019 CONSPA offered Continuing Education to all Connecticut Swimming Pool SP-2 License Holders. This course meets the State of Connecticut Continuing education requirements for the limited swimming pool maintenance and repair license (SP-2 only) to maintain and/or repair swimming pools and spas. Licenses are renewable yearly with state continuing education required every two years to retain your license. ALL SP-2 license holders are required 3 hours of Continuing Education on odd years. Make sure that you do this class before your license renewal deadline of October 30, 2019. We had 104 license holders attend this class under the instruction of Bob Baron. Our next class will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
March 4th, to March 7th, 2019 Certified Maintenance Specialist Course, Southbury, CT.
Instructor Chris Lightenberg taught a four day CMS course at the Heritage Hotel & Conference Center located in Southbury, CT. The CMS is for those who are new to the pool and spa service industry or are working a pool maintenance route. There are no prerequisites; new and seasonal employees are welcomed. This class meets education requirment for Contractors (SP-1) and Journeyman (SP-2) Licenses in the State of Connecticut. This course included the 5th Edition Service Tech Manual which is required for this class. We had over 20 people for this class.
February 2019 General Membership Meeting, Southbury, CT
On Tuesday, February 19, 2019 CONSPA held it's February general membership program. Topic was Mastering Your Marketplace - Part 4 Draw Top Technicians to Your Organization Part 1: Establish a safe work environment and culture with Guest Speaker, Justin Francini, CNA Insurance. Attendees learned about Hazcom which is required by the law and OSHA.
January 2019 Paulette Pitrak Awarded to Ronnie Falcioni & George Kazdin, Atlantic City, New Jersey
Congratulations to our very own Ron Falcioni for being the second recipient of the Paulette Pitrak award. Ron shares this honor with George Kazdin from Long Island. Ron is a Past President of CONSPA and the most recent past President of NESPA. Ron won the award for his dedication to education for CT and the Region as a whole. We're very proud of our tireless member. Congratulations Ron and George. Thank you for all do for industry.

On Tuesday, January 29, 2019 Fellow Conspa Members attended the 6th Annual Members Only Cocktail Reception that was held during The Pool & Spa Show in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Over 70 people attended this event and enjoyed delicious cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Our next social event wlll be Conspa's Golf tournament which will be held later this year. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone again in 2020.

December 2018 Holiday Donation
On Monday, December 3rd, 2018 Kimberly Gray and Sara form Necessities Cupboard went shopping with Conspa's holiday donation. This year, rather than have individual families adopted, they decided to try and provide a gift for every child under the age of 18 in the program. They had 68 minors they needed gifts for. With CONSPA's donation we are proud to say that they were able to ensure that every child will be getting a Holiday gift this year!

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 the Connecticut Spa and Pool Association board members held an all day workshop in Southbury, CT. A board meeting was held in the morning and then the board broke down into an afternoon discussion on planning events for the upcoming 2019 year.

Renovation & Restoration Round Table - Featuring Five Important Topics
On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 Conspa's members enjoyed an evening of a Pool/Spa Renovation and Restoration Round Table Format with Five Table Topics to choose from. October 2018 SP1 CEU Classes were held in Danbury & Southbury, CT

August 2018 Charity Golf Event, Oxford, CT
On Wednesday, August 28th we held our charity Golf tournament. We have been proud supporters of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation for the past 5 years, providing $60,000 in donations, which equates to 10 years of college for Gold Star students. This year we had the biggest turn out with over 116 golfers and 21 non-golfers. So here is a big hearty thanks to all our attendees, sponsors, and especially our CONSPA Golf committee.

At the 2018 Pool & Spa Show Raymond Rescildo was awarded the first ever Paulette Pitrak "Above & Beyond" Award which is Nespa's highest volunteer recoginition honoring members who have demonstrated an exceptional dedication to our association through their volunteer services. October 2017 CONSPA Donates to The Children of Fallen Patriots, Southbury, CT
On October 17, 2017 CONSPA's Vice President, Rob Romano presented a check to Robert Moeller a Navy Seal who works for The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. This years check was in the amount of $12,000.00 which was raised at the 2017 Charity Golf Tournament. Speakers also included Co-founder Cynthia Kim, Megumi Voight and Haley Hartwick.

To Benefit Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
This event was held on Tuesday, August 29th at The Tradition Golf Club in Wallingford, CT with over 100 golfers and sponsors in attendance. Since 2002, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation has filled the gap in college financing for hundreds of children who otherwise would not be able to afford a higher education, or who would be saddled with enormous debt that would hamper their future. Our mission is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. On January 24, 2017 we held the members only event at the Top of Trop at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. On February 28, 2017 we brought back the 'Mastering the Marketplace Series featuring Pentair" and our guest speaker's were John Belcher and Rich Jones. The week of March 6th Nespa held a Certified Maintenance Class at the Ethan Allen, in Danbury, CT. On March 9th Nespa held a class for the Swimming Pool Builders Continuing Education. Mike Giannamore a former board member of Conspa was presented a plaque for thanking him for all the years that he has served on the board as Chair of the Social Committee. A big congratulations to Mike.

Brian Diglio from Blue Wave Pool was the second topic table which covered Winterize Challenges and Best Practices. Third topic table was Winter Safety Cover Challenges with Dan Rowan from Meyco Products. August 2016 CONSPA Golf Tournament, Wallingford, CT.
3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit Children of Fallen Patriots
On August 30th CONSPA hosted the 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds for surviving military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. The patriotic tournament took place on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Tradition Golf Club. A record setting 110 golfers were in attendance and enjoyed lunch, dinner and a day of golf amongst friends.
The Tournament was conclude with a speech from Fallen Patriots Co-Founder Cynthia Kim expressing the foundation's gratitude for organizations like CONSPA who help support their mission of helping every child of the fallen. She also explained how it is our duty to honor the fallen by providing support for their children. Over 97% of those killed in action are men, leaving mothers, who earn on average less than $50,000 per year, with the financial responsibilities of raising a family.
Last year's golf tournament raised $7,000 for children of the fallen. With an increase in golfers competing, this year is expected to provide more funds for college scholarships.

April 2016 Conspa Held a Seminar on "Advanced Water Testing & Troubleshooting", Ethan Allen, Danbury, CT.
with Guest Speaker Wayne Ivusich, Taylor Technologies.
On April 19th CONSPA hosted an educational program designed to inform pool professional on a variety of water chemistry topics. This class was headed by Wayne Ivusich, Director of Education, at Taylor Technologies. The program titled "Water Chemistry & Testing for Both Experienced and New Staff" was held at The Ethan Allen Hotel, in Danbury, CT on April 19, 2016. CONSPA's goal was to educate pool professionals about water chemistry developments and trends.
Wayne shared his insights about a variety of water chemistry related topics including treating difficult water problems, balanced water that optimizes the disinfection process, and how to avoid common chemistry mistakes. Interactive discussions addressed subjects such as the saturation index, facts on sanitation and oxidation, as well as testing techniques and interferences.
All attendees earned 1.5 APSP credits through this educational program, from CONSPA.

December 2015 - Conspa Donates to Toys for Tots
Conspa Board Members donated to the Toys for Tots Program. Board Member, Holly Kulowksi was in charge of organizing and purchasing all donated toys. Sergeant Ryan Magana, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Division, F Company I & I came and picked up all the toys. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute these toys as Christmas gifts to the less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Conspa has been donating for the past several years to this very giving organization.

October 2015 - CONSPA Golf Tournament, Wallingford, CT
2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit Children of Fallen Patriots
Conspa's Charity golf tournament to benefit Children of Fallen Patriots was held at The Tradition Golf Club in Wallingford, CT. Once again, the event was a success in every way. We had over 80 golfers and a lot of non-golfers (who joined us for dinner and raffles).
Thank you so much for Cynthia Kim Co-founder of Fallen Patriots who attended our golf event. Cynthia and her husband David Kim founded this organization by providing college scholarships and long-term educational counseling to children of fallen patriots. Cynthia explained to the group that we honor the lives of those who have sacrificed themselves for our country, ensuring the success of those they loved. Cynthia also spoke about that nearly 20,000 children have lost an active duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. This organization helps them and support their education with college scholarships that go directly to the children.
